There is an extensive network of waterways in the area that takes you through Avenhorn-De Goorn, Berkhout, Bobeldijk, Hoorn and Grosthuizen. This network was created through land consolidation of the Westerkogge back in the Eighties. The waterways are suitable for barges, rowing boats and canoes. The route takes you past various village centers, through the open landscape and past some recreational areas of which De Hulk is the largest. Ask us about the possibilities.

The VOC city of Hoorn has a rich history. You see them not only in the old center, but of course also at the port. It seems as if time has stood still. The sails are hoisted, the deck is swallowed and you can still smell the spices the VOC took with them from his travels from the Far East. Of course you can sit here extremely well on a terrace; after all, there is enough to see on and around the water. The best way to get to know the city is through a city walk in the form of a photo puzzle tour. Ask us about the possibilities.
City walk: With or without a guide, see VVV Hoorn.
The area is very suitable for exploring by bike. You can rent a bike at Fietswereld Keizer in De Goorn about 1.8 km away. You can experience a different way of cycling on the cycling track in Alkmaar. Here you can follow a two-hour track clinic where you experience track cycling like never before.
Bowling Spierdijk is 5 kilometers away. You can also play indoor miniature golf or old Dutch games here next to bowling.
Hoorn has no less than five museums. The Westfries Museum shows the distant past of the city, while the Museum of the Twentieth Century is a feast of recognition for the older youngsters among us. Zuiderzee Museum
The Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen has an indoor and an outdoor museum. The outdoor museum consists of a walking park with authentic old buildings from the former Zuiderzee area. There is a mill, a lime kiln, an eel smokehouse, a candy store, a pharmacy, a church, a wooden shoe factory, a cheese warehouse, a school, a hairdresser and a harbor. From April to November there is plenty of activity in the outdoor museum with typical old-Dutch activities, such as Dutch games, making rope and making a wooden boat. There are also demonstrations of old crafts.
The indoor museum consists of temporary exhibitions and a ship hall with real (fishing) boats. Thetemporary exhibitions establish links between the collection and contemporary developments. Classic Dutch themes get a surprising approach. The building complex of the indoor museum is owned by the State (Government Buildings Agency).
